Q: What training does a Naturopathic Doctor receive?
A:

Qualified and credentialed Naturopathic doctors (NDs) attend accredited Naturopathic Medical Schools, where they complete a four year graduate level medical program. NDs study conventional diagnosis and outpatient treatment in addition to rigorous training in clinical nutrition, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, physical therapeutics, and other natural therapies. To practice as licensed Primary Care Naturopathic doctors in Oregon, they must also pass two sets of professional board exams.

While not required, some NDs complete highly competitive residency programs for additional clinical training in general Naturopathic medicine or in focused areas.
