| Q: | What kinds of patients can be helped with Naturopathic Medicine? |
| A: |
Since Naturopathic Medicine focuses on supporting a person’s general health in addition to offering specific treatments for various conditions, any person can be helped. While there will be occasions that Dr. Oberoi will ask that a patient also work with a medical doctor or specialist, most patients with any and all conditions can achieve improvement in their health. | Q: | What is Naturopathic Medicine and how is it different from conventional medicine? |
| A: |
The main difference between these two schools of medicine is the philosophy behind them. Naturopathic medicine philosophy believes the human body naturally seeks to be healthy, so the therapies chosen are ones that remove obstacles and support that natural inclination to health. | Q: | What training does a Naturopathic Doctor receive? |
| A: |
Qualified and credentialed Naturopathic doctors (NDs) attend accredited Naturopathic Medical Schools, where they complete a four year graduate level medical program. NDs study conventional diagnosis and outpatient treatment in addition to rigorous training in clinical nutrition, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, physical therapeutics, and other natural therapies. To practice as licensed Primary Care Naturopathic doctors in Oregon, they must also pass two sets of professional board exams. While not required, some NDs complete highly competitive residency programs for additional clinical training in general Naturopathic medicine or in focused areas.
